1 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Tour will take you through an interesting safari destination on waters of Lake Victoria, to reach on Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary you need to take a boat cruise out on the largest lake in Uganda and East Africa known as Lake Victoria. Note; the boat leaves at either 9:00 am or 12:45 am
You will arrive at the island and be directed by our safari guide to the visitor’s center where you will be introduced to the project and they take you through about its history. There are two sections in a day to visit these chimpanzees that is’’ half day and full day’’. But before starting the activity, you will receive a personal orientation by a chimpanzee caretaker and view a feeding of the chimpanzees ‘’full day visitors to enjoy a view on how chimpanzees feed ‘’ from travelers raise platform area along the edges of the sanctuary fence. You will also be given a chance to sight see monitor lizards, birds and photo taking opportunities which is arranged both half and full day trips.

Detailed itinerary
Our 1 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee tour package starts from Kampala or Entebbe. You will be picked up from your hotel by our safari drive, to drive you to Lake Victoria which is a nearby water body to Kampala city and Entebbe Airport. You will use a boat on Lake Victoria to sail you to Ngamba island which is 45-minute ride. You will arrive at the island and be welcomed with great viewing of chimpanzees into their fences. You will experience in chimpanzee viewing and feed, do shopping at the island gift shop, birding. Other activities to experience in are wildlife encounter, visiting a neighboring fishing village, you can as well enjoy sunbathing and relaxing on wind of the islands.
On visitor’s day to Ngamba island their hands can get dirty just by being part of the feeding team and this is a great opportunity for you to feed the chimpanzees in a unique way from platform, where you will get excited looking to chimps as they try to gain your attention to receive food.
During lunchtime, you will enjoy your lunch prepared on island. Please note, packed lunch and drinks are prohibited around here.
Note: Speed Boat estimates 45minutes from Entebbe to the Island and Motorized Canoe takes approximately 90 minutes from Entebbe to the Island.
After chimpanzee viewing experience, you will get on the boat to ride back on the edge of the lake. To be driven back to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight.
