Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Airport pick up.

On day 1 of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, upon arrival at the airport, our company representative together with the guide will welcome you and transfer you to your booked accommodation. Depending on the time of your arrival, you might opt to do some optional activities in Entebbe town like a visit to the Botanical Gardens for bird viewing or the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) for wildlife adventure but at your cost. Day 2: Ngamba Island

On day 2 of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, after breakfast, you will take a short boat ride to Ngamba Island to visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary was created in association with the Jane Goodall Institute. The island is also home to monitor lizards and various species of birds and is a natural habitat for chimpanzees that have been orphaned or rescued from captivity.

You will be able to view these unique creature’s primates from a viewing platform and participate in the feeding experience. Later, you will ride back to the pier in Entebbe; crossing the equator atop the waters of Lake Victoria

Arrive at the pier where your driver/guide will be waiting to drive you to the Kampala city tour where you will visit the Kasubi Tombs and Crafts village if time allows. Dinner and overnight stay at Sheraton Hotel /Grand Imperial Hotel – Kampala

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

On this day, after breakfast, your guide will pick you up from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. En route, you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will engage in rhino tracking experience –a nature walk which is done by a skilled ranger.

After enjoying Rhino tracking activity, drive out of the sanctuary and head to your next visiting journey Murchison Falls National Park. Murchison Falls is the largest and oldest savannah conservation area in Uganda, covering an area of about 3840 square kilometers that comprises open savannah grassland, woodland which are habitats to a diversity of wildlife species with over 86 mammals and around 600 bird species. More so, it is famously known for hosting the world’s most powerful waterfalls ‘’ mighty Murchison Falls’’ 3,840 km². The park’s name derives from its famous waterfall: the mighty Murchison Falls’’ where the Victoria Nile powerfully forces its way through a narrow cleft before plunging 43 meters down with a thunderous roar. The Nile River divides the park into its north and south sections. Dinner and overnight stay at Nile Safari Lodge –Luxury, Pakuba Safari Lodge – Mid-range.

Day 4: Morning game drive- Afternoon Boat Safari-Top of falls

On day 4 of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, after breakfast, you will depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park. The 3,893 square kilometers park is home to a range of animals, and birds and you will have a chance of viewing some of the Park’s residents including lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants among others. It is a rewarding site for birders.

In the afternoon, head for a boat trip at the Paraa landing site where the boat starts, you will sail on the waters of Victoria Nile toward Devil’s Cauldron for sweat viewing and picture taking. As well as sailing closer to where the Nile thunders through a small 7-meter gap plunging 43 meters into the Nile on the way to Lake Albert. The banks of the Nile are densely populated with crocodiles, hippopotamuses, and a range of other animals that usually visit the river to quench their thirst. Dinner and overnights stay at the lodge above.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Today you will set off your journey to Kibale Forest National Park after breakfast. You will drive through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda’s beautiful nature.

Kibale Forest National Park sits in western Ugandan region to the east of the Rwenzori Mountain which lies near the beautiful town of Fort Portal. The park covers a total land of about 766 square kilometers of composting green rainforest and ranges between 1100 and 1600 meters in elevation.

Kibale Forest National Park is renowned for hosting the highest concentration of chimpanzee individuals on the African continent with more than 6000 individuals. It is also a birding site. You will have a packed lunch en route. Arrive in the evening for overnight and dinner. Chimpundu Lodge –Luxury, Chimpanzee Forest Lodge –Mid-range.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (Full Day)

Have breakfast and report to the park headquarters for briefing about the activity rules. You will then head out for a Chimpanzee habituation experience where you attend to the Chimpanzees as a caretaker! You will spend a full day in the jungle where you shall have a chance to spend four hours with chimps while observing how they feed, copulating hunting, breastfeed, rest, patrol, and display till it is time to build their new nests around 7 pm. Descend back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay in same lodge above.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have breakfast, and then continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a visit to the crater lakes and stalagmites site in Fort Portal town. You will cross the equator again in Kasese.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second largest park and the top safari destination to go for wildlife viewing experience. The park is home to more than 96 mammal species and around 600 bird species. A list of some of wildlife to be spotted here include Uganda kob, warthog, and waterbuck. Lions are often sighted both in and at the entrance to the park. Be ready to see huge numbers of hippos and elephants, and keep your eyes on the lookout for a leopard lazing in the sunshine as well as rare tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Arrive, late afternoon at the lodge, relax at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Plain – Luxury and Elephant Hab Lodge – Mid-range

Day 8: Game drive and Kazinga channel boat safari

On day 8 of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, you will wake up early before sunrise coffee, have tea and donuts served in the lounge before heading out for a long game drive in time to watch the first rays of light. You will look out for all the wild animals that call Queen their home such as Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs. A well-deserved lunch will be served back at the lodge in the late morning.

In the afternoon you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Edward. You will watch various species of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as lots of other animals that come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. Where you expect to see buffalo, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and a range of beautiful birds. This experience is undoubtedly one of the highlights of your tour.

After the boat safari, you will transfer from Queen to your hotel in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge –Luxury, Buhoma Haven Lodge – Mid-range

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On day 9 of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, after you have an early morning breakfast, be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla tracking. You will encounter one of Bwindi’s endangered mountain gorillas. Truly to most people, this is the main highlight of their tour in Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park boasts both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees – the only forest in Africa to inhabit these two great giants. It also hosts five other species of primates, 113 species of mammals, over 200 species of butterflies, and 360 bird species. The gorillas you track are habituated and can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period of time, every day.

The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to 7 hours. On finding them, you will be allowed an hour to spend with these once a living creature in their natural habitat. The experience is truly humbling and worth it. Dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 10: Departure back to Kampala/Entebbe

On the last day of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari, after your warm loving breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive out of the park. You will start the journey back to Kampala with an en-route lunch at the Equator where you will enjoy a photoshoot, visit craft shop around as well as enjoy a water experiment. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off to your hotel in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight departure back home.

That marks the end of the 10 Days Uganda Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari.
