Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale Forest for Chimps Trek

Enjoy morning breakfast at the hotel as you get prepare for your 10 Days Uganda Gorillas and Mountain Rwenzori Hiking Holiday Safari, our expert driver guide will pick you up and drives you to Fort portal. You will drive along a rewarding countryside landscape along the way. Arrive in Fort portal town for hot lunch after proceed to drive to the Fort Portal Crater Area for beautiful scenic views. You retreat from the caves and head on the hike to the Fort Portal Crater Lake field where you summit the iconic Kyegangwa hill to gain spectacular views of the craters including the empty hollows and those several water holes filled with water to form lakes like Lake Saaka, Lake Kigera and Lake Bikere.

The summit of the hill offers endless views of the area and distant views of majestic Rwenzori mountains beyond. Then connect to Fort Portal town from where you will drive 26km to Kibale National Park. Arrive, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Afternoon Transfer to Rwenzori

After morning breakfast, you will be driven to the Kanyachu tourism center for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking rules by the UWA – rangers. After briefing, head into forest trailheads in search of your closest cousins. The trekking can take about 30minutes to 7 hours depending on their movements. Once the chimpanzee family is seen, you will be allowed one hour to spend with them as you learn about their behavior, feed, play, take memorable photography and video capturing.

Kibale Forest National Park is home to largest concentrations of chimpanzees in Africa and a great birding stop location. It harbors 13 species of primates,70 species of mammals and over 351 tree species among others.

Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Hike from Kayanjuki at 14:50 meters to Sine Hut at 2596 meters

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the park ranger post for briefing and then start by hiking up the valley floor through tall forest trees of the Afro-Montane Forest zone.

The hiking adventure here is rewarding with great view of notable bird species and a chance to see some primates scampering off through the forest.  You also expect to watch different types of plant species from forest trees to bamboo thickets, many shrubs and flowers. You will enjoy Enock’s falls which measures 200 meters from Sine Hut. Dinner and overnight at Sine Camp.

Day 4: Hike from Sine Camp to Mutinda Camp

After morning breakfast, you will start the hike that takes you through the Bamboo – Mimulopsis area, when you reach the bamboo zone and it is steep hiking on high steps and during the hike it can slippery and muddy which makes the hike bit difficult to access the summit – although the atmosphere up there in the forest is gorgeous as you hike 551meter altitude and a distance of 1.8kilomters and hike up to Kalalama Camp at 3,147 meters. This area is in the Heather Rapanea Zone, have a stopover for a cup of tea or coffee, after hiking up to Mutinda camp.

Mutinda camp is located close to a small river that drops off a waterfall and offers the opportunity to refresh and relax. You can hike up to the top of the Mitinda to enjoy an amazing view across the Rwenzori Mountains, Kasese town and Lake George. Its viewing point stands at 3,925 meters. Day 5: Hike from Mutinda Camp to Kiharo Camp at 3380 meters

Wake have morning breakfast, you will be prepared by your guide and continue with the hike –starting from the summit to Mutinda peaks to hike up past Kiharo Camp at 3,380 meters. You can embark for another optional adventure of rock climbing after going for dinner and overnight at Kiharo Camp.

Day 6: Start the Hike from Kiharo Camp to Samalira camp at 3174meters

Today, after morning breakfast, you will hike down to Samalira camp which takes about 3 to 4 hours of climbing down through the giant heather trees which make up most of the unique vegetation from Kiharo to Samalira. This trail is interesting flat and easy climbing down for about 2 hours with stunning views of river Nyamwamba and after climbing up a ridge for 40 minutes before sloping town to Samalira camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Climb down from Samalira camp to Kilembe base camp in Kasese

You will enjoy delicious breakfast with entire team you have been hiking with, then after climb down from Samalira through the Bamboo –Mimulopsis Zone, Afro Montane Forest Zone and to Kilembe base camp in Kasese. After, drive to Kasese town for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

You have a relaxed breakfast, followed by check out of the lodge and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. the drive takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive have hot lunch and after go for an afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The kazinga channel is home to numerous water birds, herds of hippos, elephants, buffaloes and waterbucks which can be watched bathing and drinking water at the edge.

Crocodiles are occasionally sighted along the channel banks, explore the beautiful undulating green tea estates where you can also engage in tea plucking experience with the estate staff after which you transfer to Bwindi National Park. You will have a stop in Kihihi town for lunch. Arriving in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early morning breakfast with your packed lunch, you will drive to the park headquarter for registration and join other trackers in briefing about the rules and regulations and expectation of gorilla trekking. The trekking can take 30minute to 7 hours depending on their movements. After briefing, you will be accompanied by the park ranger to trek through undergrowth in search of the gorilla family and on finding them, you will spend one hour with them as get to learn about their daily life style and enjoying photo shoot. The experience is extremely rewarding and unforgettable. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Departure to Entebbe /Kampala

On your last day of the 10 Days Uganda Gorillas and Mountain Rwenzori Hiking Holiday Safari, after a relaxed breakfast, you will drive back to Kampala to be dropped at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight.
