Such mountain volcanoes include; Muhabura, Karisimbi, Sabinyo, Bisoke, and Gahinga. More to that, the park borders Uganda’s home to mountain gorillas –Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Congo’s Virunga National Park.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Hotel and Kigali City Tour
Kigali City Tour: On your first day of the safari, you will be picked up by our professional safari driver guide from the hotel, brief you about the 4 Days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Rwanda Safari. Then you will start a tour of Kigali city Rwanda’s capital city including a visit to the famous Gisozi genocide memorial site where you will be able to learn how thousands of people lost their lives in the year 1994, a true story which is resistible.
You will also visit the local markets where you can enjoy buying fresh fruits, visit the king’s palace, and take a visit to Ihema Arts Center where you will get a stunning displayed historical gallery, if time allows. Enjoy your lunch.
After lunch, you will begin the 2-hour drive journey to the famous Volcanoes National Park while driving through the scenic mountainous countryside along the way. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda
On day 2 of 4 Days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Rwanda Safari, wake up early in the morning enjoy your heavy breakfast served at the lodge, and pack lunch boxes. Your safari driver guide will pick you up and drive you to the park headquarters Musanze in Kinigi at 7 am.
The park ranger will take you through a short briefing of about 30 minutes. After the briefing, you will be grouped into a group of 8 people in your assigned gorilla family – group but the selection of the gorilla family must be based on body fitness. You will be accompanied by the park ranger to search for gorillas and the activity can take about 30 to 7 hours, depending on their location in their natural environment.
Once you find the gorilla family you’re assigned to, you will be allowed one hour to spend with them as they behave, feed, play, and survive in the forest.
After trekking, you will drive back to the park headquarters and then connect to a visit to Iby’Iwacu cultural village which lies in Musanze near the Volcanoes National Park.
On your visit, you will get to interact with the Rwandan people and enjoy their beautiful traditional dance and songs. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as above.
Note; Gorilla trekking in Rwanda can be challenging but the experience is memorable.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park and Canopy Walk
Breakfast will be served early meet your driver guide for your transfer to Nyungwe forest you will be driven southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads, and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda with lunch en- route.
Canopy Walk: After lunch, you head for the canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park which will give you exceptional views of the park as you walk along the suspended metallic trail in the trees. You will get to see a number of primates swinging within the branches, like the chimpanzees, and different monkey species, you will see numerous bird species and after the rewarding experience, head back to your lodge/ hotel. Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Depart to Kigali
Enjoy breakfast and after carrying your packed lunch, go meet up with your driver guide to transfer to park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, meet up with the park ranger to accompany you on forest trails in search of these active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. Once you find a habituated chimpanzee group, you will be allowed an hour to spend with them as you learn their behavior, hand abits, feed, play and watch them as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. After, an incredible encounter hike back to the meeting point to meet up with your driver guide. You will then drive out of the park and depart back to Kigali. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at your own booked hotel in Kigali or be dropped off at any place of your choice.
