Day 1 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour: Kigali to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi for a boat cruise
Boat cruise on Lake Kivu: Be ready for a pick up from your hotel in Kigali on day 1 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour by our company representative in Rwanda and be transferred direct to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. A journey from Kigali to Lake Kivu is not long so expect to be there in about 3 hours’ time on a road drive. Upon arrival, check in for a meal and without hesitation embark on an afternoon boat ride along Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is such a beautiful destination to spend time with your loved ones due to its cool ambiance and scenic view of the surrounding hills thus spending a half day exploring Lake Kivu is such a rewarding experience. Well after the boat cruise, you may spend a little more hours swimming, and then have a nature walk along the shores of Lake Kivu in the sand and later on return to your reserved hotel for dinner and overnight as you close the 1st days of your 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour.

Day 3 of your safari: Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park
Gorilla trekking in Virunga National park: After breakfast on day 3 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour, pack enough snacks, drinking water and trekking gears and later on be transferred to the main trail head of gorilla trekking at Bukima for a briefing. After briefing, you will set off for a fascinating expedition as you trail deep into the forest via different trails in search of habituated mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. Once you land on the habituated gorilla family, you will spend one hour with the gorillas taking photographs and later on return to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari: Hike Mount Nyiragongo (Ascend)
Nyiragongo hike (Ascend): After breakfast at your lodge on day 4 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour, pack all your belongings then check out of the lodge and be transferred to Kibati Ranger post where a hike to summit Mount Nyiragongo commences. At Kibati ranger post, you will be briefed about Nyiragongo Mountain which is the most active volcano amongst the 8 volcanoes in Virunga massif with its last eruption in 2002 that claimed plenty of lives of both humans and wildlife without forgetting the property distraction. On this day 4 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking safaris & Nyiragongo safari tour, you have to keep in mind that a Nyiragongo hike starts as early as 10:00am and once you miss out, you will not be refunded thus the best thing to do is to be there in time. You will encounter some wildlife along the hike such as primates, mammals, birds, butterflies and many more. Upon arrival at the summit, you will enjoy a clear view of other neighbouring volcanoes and virunga national park from above. Spend your overnight in a tent at the summit and capture those breath-taking photographs of the lave lake as it glows in the night especially when the rain drops in.

Day 5 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari: Descend Nyiragongo and return to Kigali
Descend Nyiragongo: You will arise at the summit of Nyiragongo on day 5 of 5 days Lake Kivu, Congo Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari tour, have breakfast if possible and by 6:00am be ready to start descending with other hikers and rangers. Descending is more fun as you will enjoy the slides, falling and rolling. Once you reach down at Kibati Ranger post, you will be driven back to Rwanda – Congo border to meet your safari driver and be driven back to Kigali with an enroute lunch. While in Kigali, you will be dropped either at the hotel of your choice or direct at Kigali International airport for departures.
