Bwindi impenetrable national park forest is located in the southwestern part of Uganda close to Rwanda-Uganda border at the edge of the Rift Valley. Bwindi forest is one of Uganda’s oldest national park with diverse rainforest of over 25,000 years ago and contains about 400 plant species. Bwindi Impenetrable national park inhabits half of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas in the world with half of the remaining gorilla in the world and it is divided into 4 sectors including; Buhoma sector which is the oldest trekking sector, Rushaga sector which has the largest number of gorilla families, Ruhija sector and finally Nkuringo sector. Bwindi forest also shelters some species of mammals including the forest elephants and the different species of antelopes. The park is also rich with different bird species including Albertine Rift endemics. This luxury gorilla safari features domestic flights in Bwindi national park with Aerolink Uganda Limited a local flight that operates around Uganda national parks. Flying to Bwindi saves visitors a 8-9 hours’ road drive from Kampala.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe airport
On the 1st day of your 5 Days Luxury Bwindi Gorilla experience, upon arrival in Entebbe airport, meet your safari guide and be transferred to your booked hotel around Entebbe. Depending on time of arrival, you will have time visit some of the interesting places in Entebbe like the Zoo, reptile village, the beach. Day 2: Fly to Bwindi forest national park
After breakfast, your hotel driver will drop you off at Entebbe airport for your connecting flight to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Aero link Uganda is one of the best domestic local flights that operate in Uganda national parks with daily flights scheduled twice a day. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be helped by an Aero-link staff to check-in for your flight. It’s a 2 hours flight. On reaching Kihihi airstrip, you will meet your guide and transfer to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay Sanctaury Gorilla Forest Camp/Ruhija Gorilla lodge/Clouds Mountain Gorilla lodge/Gahinga Lodge/Four Gorilla lodge – Luxury accommodations
Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters with your trekking gears and packed lunch, meet with other trekkers for briefing about gorilla trekking. After you are allocated a group in groups of 8 people, head into the forest for your trek. Gorilla trekking takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family being visited. These primates roam the park freely and there is no way of telling where they will be for a particular. On finding them, you will be allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these gentle primates before you descend back to meet your driver/guide and transfer back to your lodge.
After trekking, drive to Rushaga sector of Bwindi forest national park. Upon arrival, proceed to check-in your lodge for as you unwind dinner and overnight booked lodge as above.
Day 4: Gorilla habituation experience
On day 4 of your 5 Days Luxury Bwindi Gorilla experience, after breakfast, drive out of the lodge to connect to the park headquarters with your trekking gears and packed lunch and water. Meet with other trekkers and gather for a briefing from the park officials where you will be guided on the expectations of gorilla trekking experiences. Thereafter in only a group of 4 people and ranger guides/researchers, set off for gorilla habituation experience. This is a full day activity were you will visit a semi-habituated gorilla family that in the process of training to get used to people. These gorillas are usually difficult to find because they keep running away however the research rangers will find them and allow you study and learn about the family for 4 hours maximum in their presence. After habituation experience return to meet your safari guide and receiving your certificate to return back to your lodge. Relax at the lodge with great memories of the wild gorillas; dinner will be serve and overnight stay at Lodge as above
Day 5: Fly back to Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Kisoro airstrip for your return flight back to Entebbe airport. It’s a 2 hours connecting flight. Kisoro airstrip operates only morning flights given weather conditions in this region of Uganda. Upon arrival in Entebbe airport, wait for your international flight back to your home country.
