This 6 Days Uganda primates Flying Safari takes you into a luxury life on how to experience the amazing life of these unique primates such as Mountain gorillas and Chimpanzees. Safari places to visit; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda a home renown for housing half total population of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world, simply divided in four gorilla sectors; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo Gorilla Sector.
Kibale Forest National Park is known as primate’s capital with over 13 species of primates, especially the most sought in here are the Chimpanzees and other small primates. This trip starts and end in flying while using a domestic flight.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Kibale Forest National Park
Upon your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport on the first day of the 6 days Uganda primates fly in safari, you will connect for your domestic flight with Aero link Uganda to Kasese airstrip which departs at around 10:15am and arrives at around 12:05. Arrive at the airstrip, meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park and upon arrival you will connect to your reserved lodge for lunch where after you will spend the rest of the day at leisure, dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest lodge-midrange /Chumpugu Safari lodge – Luxury
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early breakfast on the second day of the safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest trails in search for chimps – an activity which takes about 2 to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located. During trekking you will be amazed with gainful views of other primates, different bird species and much more. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be given one hour to spend with them in their environment which helps you to watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos for your future remembrance. After the one-hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an afternoon swamp walk in Bigodi swamp. During the swamp walk, you will be able to view different primates, birds, plant and tree species many more. After the nature walk, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight in the same lodge.
Day 3: Fly to Bwindi national park-Kisoro airstrip
After breakfast on the third day of the safari, followed by check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kasese airstrip for your domestic flight to Kisoro airstrip. Arrive and meet up with your driver guide and drives you to Rushaga sector in Bwindi impenetrable national park .Upon arrival you will connect to your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure, dinner and overnight stay Ichumbi Safari lodge-midrange , Mahogany Springs Safari Lodge – Luxury –options
Day 4: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi national park
After an early delicious breakfast on the fourth day of the safari, you will carry packed lunch boxes and go meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla habituation. After the briefing, you will start hiking in the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas and during trekking expect to view other primate species, bird species, plant and tree species many more. Once the gorilla family is found you will be able to spend four hours with the gorillas which offers you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities, learn and monitor their behaviors, habits, participate in the naming process, take photos and record the breathtaking moments for your future remembrance. After the amazing gorilla habituation experience, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of the safari, you will carry your packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will begin trekking in their nature habitant which lasts about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are found . Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you a great chance to observe their habits, behaviors, watch gorillas feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos and record the breathtaking moments to show people back home after the safari.
After the one-hour experience with the gentle giants you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be rewarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for relaxation or go for an optional batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the batwa people, learn about their lifestyle, way of living, listen to their story telling among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Fly to Entebbe international airport
After morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kisoro airstrip for your domestic flight which departs at around 8:25am to Entebbe international airport and arrives at around 11:25am. That marks the end of 6 days flying gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking safari
