Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera national park – Boat cruise
Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Akagera national park: Early in the morning on day 1 of 7 Days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe forest safari, you will be met by our company representative in Kigali Rwanda who will take through the city of Kigali with a visit to Kimironko market to buy some items you might need while on your safari. You will as well visit the genocide memorial sites in Kigali and proceed with your journey as you head to Akagera national park the only savanna park in Rwanda. Upon park arrival, proceed to check in your lodge, have lunch and without wasting time head out for an afternoon boat cruise along Lake Ihema with an opportunity to spot crocodiles, Hippos, water birds and many more. Return to your lodge later on for dinner and night sleep.

Day 2: Morning game drive and community tour
Game drive and community tour: After breakfast on day 2 of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe forest safari, head out for an early morning game drive in the thrilling vegetation of Akagera national park to search for several animals including Elephants, Rhinos, Giraffes, Impalas, Kob, Lions, impalas and may more. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and embark on an evening community tour to meet and interact with the local Rwandese around the park. Later in the evening, return to your lodge to have your served dinner and grab yourself a splendid night as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Drive to Nyungwe forest national park: After breakfast on day 3 of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe forest safari, check out of the lodge and meet your Rwanda safari driver to embark on a journey to Nyungwe forest national park via Kigali city for an enroute lunch before proceeding to Nyungwe forest where you will spend an overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park
Chimpanzee trekking: arise from your bed as early as 5:00am in the morning on day 4 of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe forest safari, pack some snacks and drinking water and be driven to Uwinka for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After briefing by the rangers, you will be led into the forest for a fascinating chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe forest. The forest trail in search of Chimpanzees will reward you with plenty of other encounters including other primates, birds singing in tree branches, animals and many more. Once you find chimpanzees, you will spend only 1 hour in their presence taking photographs and later on exit back to your lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon at 2:00pm, return to the forest for a fascinating canopy walk along a 200m canopy that will reward you with more attractions especially a view of different bird species, primates and a view of Nyungwe forest national park at a glance. After the walk, return to your lodge for dinner and night rest as above.

Day 5: Transfer to Bukavu – Democratic Republic of Congo
Transfer to Democratic Republic of Congo: After breakfast on the 5th day of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe forest safari, get ready to leave Nyungwe forest national park for Bukavu via Rusizi border where you will meet with Congo guide to take you further with the remaining part of your safari in Democratic Republic of Congo. Expect to arrive in time for lunch then opt to spend your evening at Leisure or inform your safari driver in case you are in for any activity. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel in Bukavu.

Day 6: Lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga national park
Lowland gorilla trekking: After breakfast at your hotel in Bukavu on day 6 of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe safari, meet your Congo safari for a drive to Kahuzi Beiga national park to participate in a breath taking Lowland gorilla trekking safari in Democratic Republic of Congo. The adventure will start with briefing at the park headquarters after which you will penetrate into the forest to search for these giants in their habitats. The trek lasts about 2-5 hours or even more with only 1 hour of closely viewing the Gorillas. Later on, exit the forest back to your hotel for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight as above.

Day 7: Return to Kigali for departures
Departures: After breakfast on day 7 of 7 days Akagera, Kahuzi Beiga & Nyungwe safari, check out of the lodge and meet your Congo driver for a transfer back to Rusizi border where you will then cross over to meet your Rwanda safari driver and proceed to Butare for an enroute lunch plus a visit to the museum then head to Kigali Rwanda for hotel or airport drop off.
