Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National park
- Arrival: on day 1 of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will arrive at Kigali international airport where our company representative will meet you, greet and introduce himself to you. You are briefed about the expectations during this 7 days safari in Rwanda and be driven to a nearby hotel for a meal.
- Transfer to Volcanoes National Park: After enjoying your meal, you will then be driven direct to Volcanoes national park a home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in Rwanda. Upon arrival, you will check in, have Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes
- Gorilla Trekking: On the 2nd day of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will have to enjoy your early morning breakfast, pack you lunch box and enough drinking water then be driven to the headquarters for a pre gorilla trekking briefing. Once the briefing is done, you will hire your porter to assist you in carrying the extra luggage and offer a push /pull during the difficult trails. During the gorilla trekking adventure, you will be in a position to encounter other wildlife species including primates, Mammals, birds, and different plant species. Upon encounter with the allocated mountain gorilla family, you will spend the maximum duration of one hour interacting and taking all the breath taking photographs of the mountain gorillas as they go on in their daily life. - Hike Dian Fossey’s grave: on day 3 of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will have a served breakfast at your lodge then embark on the hike to summit Dian Fossey’s research center situated at Karisoke research center. Once at the research center, you will be in a position to view the volcanic mountains including Karisimbi and Visoke, visit the graveyards of Dian Fossey, and the best friend Decimal the mountain gorilla that was buried just close to Dian Fossey hike. After the hike of the Dian Fossey grave, you will return to the lodge, enjoy your relaxed lunch and then opt for an evening community encounters. During the community encounter, you will meet with the local Rwandese for the traditional performance including dance and drama that will make your evening awesomely entertaining. Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
- Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park: on day 4 of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will arise on a relaxing cup of tea, check out of the lodge and meet your driver for a ride to Nyungwe forest national park the only place where you will encounter all the 13 species of primates including the endangered chimpanzees in Rwanda. You will have an enroute lunch and proceed with your journey to Nyungwe, you may have a stopover in Butare where you will visit the National Museum for some crafts and to have a brief history of Rwanda then proceed to the lodge for check-in dinner and have an overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe forest
- Chimpanzee trekking: on day 5 of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will wake up at the lodge, have breakfast and then be driven by your guide/driver to the headquarters of Nyungwe forest national park for a chimpanzee trekking briefing, porter hiring, and then set to off to the forest to search for the already habituated chimpanzee species available for trekking. Throughout chimpanzee trekking, you be in a position to encounter other species of primates including the Colobus monkeys, lots of species of mammals, bird species, and many more within the thick lush of the forest. After trekking chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for lunch and have an evening walk with the park since the park is known for its several hiking trails leading to different destinations such as waterfall trails, canopy walk trails, and river trails among others.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali and Visit Kigali genocide memorial sites
- Transfer to Kigali: on day 6 of 7 days Dian Fossey hike and Rwanda Primates (Gorillas & Chimps) safari, you will arise in the morning have breakfast, check out of the lodge and Exit Nyungwe forest national park back to Kigali. This drive will take about 5-6 hours’ drive thus expect to arrive in Kigali during the lunchtime. Once in Kigali, you will have to check-in at the lodge in Kigali and enjoy your lunch.
- Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial sites: After lunch, you will meet your driver to be transferred to the genocide memorial sites within Kigali where you will learn more about the Kigali genocide that claimed thousands of Rwandese in a bloody murder. After the visit to the genocide sites, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Kigali City tour and Departures
