The 8 Days Explore Rwanda Tour is a magical safari tour package leading you to explore the land of thousands of hills, boasting with lots of spectacular and remarkable attractions. It takes you to visit Akagera National Park for game viewing and a boat cruise, Nyungwe forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk as well as a visit to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking adventure.
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN KIGALI, TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL
PARK AND BOAT CRUISE
You will be met by our professional driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time to head in an early morning game drives that will offer you the chance to watch a number of game animals mostly the herbivores like the elephants grazing within the plains, the rhinos, you will also get to watch a number of remarkable views for the park and a various rewarding attractions. After your game drive you will be transferred to the lodge for lunch and refreshments and later on participate in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will observe game such as hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and various bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, African King fisher’s catching their prey from the Lake that live
around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2 : FULL DAY GAME DRIVE
Rise up early in the morning enjoy breakfast and head for a morning game drive with great anticipation of watching the different animals which rise early to graze and predators searching for their early morning kill especially the big cats like the leopard, lions among other carnivores. You will get to watch a number of herbivores like the rhinos grazing within the plains, elephants, gazelle, oribi and other rewarding game animals. After the morning game drives, you will drive back to your hotel for refreshments and later in the afternoon transfer to take part in the evening game drive. Get ready to watch a number of predators coming from their hiding adventure to catch prey, the herbivores catching their last bite for the day, the crocodiles can be seen sun-basking, elephants quenching their thirst from the river banks which will make your safari worthwhile. After an amazing safari experience, you will make your way back to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After an early morning game drive, freshen up and embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park. Arriving Ruhengeri in the afternoon.
You will have lunch at you lodge and stay at leisure till evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and set off to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am.
After briefing, you will enter the forest for your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.
However, the guides will try to find them from where they were last seen the previous day! You will spend an hour with these gentle giants and after, gorilla trekking. Return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK AND CANOPY WALK
Breakfast will be served early meet your driver guide for your transfer to Nyungwe forest. You will be driven southwards to Nyungwe forest National park watching a number of attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads . You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. After lunch, you will watch for the canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park which will give you unforgettable views of the park as you walk along the suspended metallic trail in the trees. You will get to watch a number of primates swinging within the branches, like the chimpanzees, different monkey species, you will watch numerous bird species and after the rewarding experience, head back to your lodge/ hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to be encountered, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then drive to your accommodation for lunch. After lunch, you will participate in an optional tea
estate safari which will offer you the chance to watch how the tea is harvest and also participate in the harvesting process among others.
After the rewarding safari, head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: PRIMATE TREKKING SAFARI
After having breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will head on the primate trekking safari which will give you the most impressive experience exploring the different primate species in Nyungwe National park. You will also watch different monkey species such as Hamlyn’s monkey, dent’s monkey, vervet monkey, silver monkey and other.
Head back to your hotel for relaxation later on dinner will be served. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After breakfast at leisure and be driven back to Kigali. You will go for a city tour where you will visit the Kimironko market and the Kigali genocide memorial site to understand more about the dark period of time during the 1994 Rwanda genocide. After having your lunch, you will be dropped at the hotel advised or you will be dropped at Kigali airport for your scheduled flight back to your home country.
