Gorilla trekking
This is an incredible activity done by the tourist in different trekking regions within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which include; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo trekking sector. The choice of the sector to trek in, is from the visitors who choose which region they prefer most to experience this fabulous activity. The park has four gorilla trekking sectors with a total of about 23 habituated gorilla families; Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushaga.
Visitors are advised to book their trekking permits in advance before their arrival time for the activity. Uganda Gorilla Trekking permit can be booked directly from the reservation’s office at ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters. You can book your gorilla trekking permits through a trust worthy tour operator with a registered tour company. You can make payments for gorilla permits for up to two years in advance.
Take note; Only 8 people are permitted to visit the gorilla group for trek and one hour is given to that particular tracking group of people to watch their amazing way of life. The Participate in gorilla trekking experience must be 15 years and above.
Gorilla trekking experience is unpredictable activity which can take 2 to 7 hours depending on their movements. Once you find them one hour will be given to you as you watch them play ,feed ,groom themselves as well as taking unforgettable photography.
Bwindi Hiking
Bwindi hiking -nature walk is quite memorable experience that can be done in several nature trails of Buhoma especially those who wish to explore the beauty of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest through nature walk trails include waterfall walks, forest walks, mountain views and impressive birdlife many more.
Munyanga waterfall walk
This forest trails start from Buhoma along the River Ivi- Nkuringo trail continues in the sensational sights of the falls, bird life and the cool breezing air is impressive.
Muzabajirro Loop
The Muzabajirro Loop is 6 kilometers walk around a hill that leads you to great sights of unique primates like chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, birds and rewarding view of the Virunga. It can be led by experienced ‘’UWA’’ guide.
Ivi River Walk
This raises 14 kilometers and can covers about 7 hours to access it while using a trail pass known as Mukempunu which means ‘a place of pigs’’ best place to watch wild pigs.
Buhoma -Nkuringo Trail
The Buhoma trail can be accessed with in 3 or 4 hours, walk takes you across the hidden treasures of the park and adjoining the two villages and offering a gainful view of the misty hillsides as you ascend the hills towards Nkuringo.
Habinyanja Trail
The habinyanja trail offers many beautiful species and it takes 4 to 6 hours to access in both ascending and descending.
The trail takes you through a stunning ascent of the Habigorogoro and Riyovi Ridge where you will be able to see Buhoma River. While hiking along this trail, you will still enjoy great relaxation on the beautiful slopes of the Habinyanja swamp and the trails give great sights of birds like Fishing Owl, African Black Duck and Black Bee Eaters among others.
Birding in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is renowned as Uganda’s oldest forest, meaning it is a birders paradise. The park hosts over 350 bird species recorded, including 23 endemics like Short-tailed Warbler, Blue-headed Sunbirds, Africa Emerald Cuckoo, Common Bulbul, African Blue and White- tailed Blue Flycatchers and Red- headed Bluebill, Yellow-streaked greenbul, Mountain masked apalis, Neumann’s warbler, Olive-breasted greenbul, Regal sunbird, Ruwenzori apalis, Shelley’s crimson wing, Ruwenzori apalis among others

Getting there;
By Road
From Kampala main city to access Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with an estimate 8 to 9hours drive.
Those who prefer to access from Queen Elizabeth National Park which takes 2 to 3 driving hours to reach Bwindi. Then from Kibale to the South of the Bwindi -takes about 1 to 2 hours drive.
Note; You’re recommended to use A 4-wheel drive vehicle during the rainy seasons.
By Air;
Visitors can fly from Entebbe while using Aero Link Uganda for your charter or scheduled flight or Kajjansi Airfield to fly you to the modern tarmac airstrip at Kisoro for the southern sector – named as Nkuringo.
