Bwindi Engagi Lodge is an excellent safari lodge built in beautiful areas of Bwindi region with hospitable staff. The lodge boasts with spectacular view from the room and from the dining rooms that grabbed visitor’s sights and minds. More so, the lodge is a modern accommodation found in a breathtaking setting offering with impressive views over the forest canopy, located in a large tract of land contiguous to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and runs from the main road to the park headquarters down to the Munyaga river.
Bwindi Engagi Lodge has been built using local material and a local workforce. More then, it was constructed from rocks that sits in and around the site as well as beautiful trees species.
There rooms are thatched from banana fibre sourced from local farmers.
The main lodge building is divided into comfortable sitting rooms, the dining rooms and a large outdoor verandah viewing platform.
The lodge is big enough to accommodate for larger groups but still allows for smaller individual groups to spread out in the quite different areas for privacy.
Bwindi Engagi Lodge is widely open ended at the front thus allowing a dramatic view of the view of the Bwindi Forest from every corner inside the building.
They have spacious kitchen which was built away from the lodge just to ensure privacy. It prepares a variety of 3 course meals and visitors’ wanted menu for example; vegetarian which is catered for by experience chefs.
The lodge is comprised of 8 en-suite cottages spaced out and hidden in the foliage. Each cottages offers either double or twin beds, clean bathroom with flushing toilets and hot and cold running water.
Each room has a beautiful private verandah where guests can enjoy their morning tea –coffees as they overlook the forest canopy and beautiful bird species.
They have electricity which is provided by the solar power with a backup generator. Hot water is provided by eco-friendly wood burning boilers.
The lodge has got main reception area which is built up near the Buhoma road and was designed with a large secure car park. Both of these are a good distance away from the main lodge buildings.
While on visit here, tourist you’re able to walk around the lodge down to the river and enjoy bird viewing and flora of the area.

In general, the Bwindi Engagi Lodge is found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a UNESCO world heritage site since 1991 and a home to primate’s kingdom especially the mountain gorillas and over 220 mammal species as well as bird species. It is located in the southwestern region of Uganda and can be accessed by car within 9 to 10 hours’ drive and 1:30 hours by domestic flight from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip by Bar Aviation or Aerolink Uganda. In world Bwindi is the greatest place to sight see these unique mountain gorillas in their nature habitants. They can be seen through gorilla trekking experience which goes at USD700 per person per trek.
