Costs of each activity; The cost of the activities differ greatly with gorilla trekking meaning Gorilla trekking cost USD700 for foreign residents, USD600 for foreign resident and UGX250,000 for East African members while Gorilla Habituation goes at USD1,500 for foreign nonresident and USD1,000 for foreign resident and UGX750,000 for East Africa members to countries like Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.

 Each activity has a number of people allowed to participate; Gorilla trekking in Bwindi allows 8 persons to trek a single gorilla family per day. The duration of an activity is given in order to minimize the spread of infections like human diseases to gorillas.

Gorilla trekking activity is a half day life experience that limits tourists after allocating the gorillas to spend only one hour with a gorilla family in their natural inhabitant whereas Gorilla habituation experience is a full day activity that allows tourists to spend four hours in the presence of these wild gorillas, which undergoes the process of habituation. That process can take 3 to 5 years when they are still   training gorillas to get used to human presences. If researchers notice that gorilla family is ready to be visited by the visitors as they open it to the public. The time spent on the trek to and from in finding the assigned gorilla family can take any time between 30 minutes and 7 hours.

Both activities have recommended age limit update by Uganda Wildlife Authority. Persons below 15 years of age are not allowed for gorilla trekking or gorilla habituation experience in their nature inhabit. During this period of the year, forest trails are easy to access and roads are passible without disappointment of rainfalls, which tend to fall so heavily from the month of March to May and October to November.

Rules and regulations given for gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation

There is minimum age of 15 years on both activities

Ill visitors are not allowed to track gorillas

Keep a distance of 6 to 7 meters away from gorillas

Do not touch gorillas are wild animals

Do not use flash photography

Do not litter the park with rubbish

 Smoking and eating is not allowed inside the park

Avoid eye contact with gorillas

Always follow instruction given by the park ranger.

Stay calm when gorilla’s charges at you.
