Gorilla Habituation in Rushaga
Gorilla Habituation in Rushaga : To be with a mountain Gorilla family as it is being habituated is of itself in Africa, this is found in Uganda where one can interact with Gorillas along with the researchers in Bwindi Impenetrable forest.
Gorilla Habituation experience refers to the act of training wild gorillas so order to be used to sight people. This type of Gorilla experience involves different groups of people to move for gorilla habituation. There are many different people involved in gorilla habituation experience and these include the trekkers, rangers, researchers and many more. The habituation experience of gorillas takes about 2 to 3 years training so that Mountain Gorillas learn how to stay close to human beings.
Rushaga family is one of the gorilla families in Bwindi Gorilla National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has over 450 gorillas and 11 habituated gorilla families including Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura families which are located in northern sector Buhoma, Bitukura, Oruzogo, Kyagururo families located in eastern part Ruhija, Nshonji, Mishaya, Busingye, Bweza, Kahungye families in the southern part of Rushaga and Nkuringo.
This is a learning process which is presented by Uganda Wildlife Authority on a small scale. The gorilla habituation experience is restricted to a group of four people per group every day. The booking for this kind of activity should done in a period of 6 months to the actual habituation day. Gorilla habituation takes place for 4 hours in the environment of Gorilla trekking tours.
There are three groups of Gorillas that are habituated and always accessed by the tourists each day; the Mubare group with 16 gorillas and a silver back, Habinyanja group with 23 gorillas with 2 silver back plus third group with 17 gorillas and 2 silver backs.
While at Rushaga there quite a number of lodges and these Lodges range from midrange, Luxury and budget lodges in Uganda. Gorilla habituation is limited to 4 people who are aged minimum of 15 years.
Note:
Rushaga region of Bwindi impenetrable forest can easily be accessed via Rwanda Kigali since its only 4hours.
