 How many gorilla permits are available in Uganda per day? : A gorilla permits is a document issued by Uganda wildlife authority ‘’UWA’’ a body governing of all National Parks in Uganda, a permit it’s a card that allows an individual to spend one hour with endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which are the national parks in Uganda where one can find mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. A gorilla permit includes one hour with great mountain gorillas, park entry fees and services of a ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority who accompanies you during Gorilla trek.

Uganda currently offer around 152 permits available per day. These are split in 21 habituated gorilla families of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. How much is a gorilla permit in Uganda?

Uganda Gorilla permits costs USD700 per person per trek for one-hour gorilla excursion and USD1500 for gorilla habituation experience that permits to spend four hours with mountain gorillas. All Gorilla permits payments are made in US Dollars to Uganda Wildlife Authority head offices in Kampala and you’re advised to pay in advance before your actual day for gorilla trek. Uganda gorilla permits costs USD700 per person for foreign nonresident, USD600 for foreign resident and UGX250,000 for East African citizen. Note, Gorilla permits price keeps changing every after two years. It can be updated by Uganda Wildlife Authority after consulting other stakeholder.

Visitors are advised to book their gorilla permit in advance during high seasons, because permits tend to sell out so highly compared to low seasons but still you can do gorilla trekking in low seasons accommodation rates seems to be low and even sometimes there can be discount on the gorilla permits due to low number visiting gorillas. Therefore, it is not automatic that ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority which normally gets maximum sales from permits daily. Another reason why Uganda cannot achieve 100%gorilla permit sales daily because it faces competition from other two countries with mountain gorillas Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo.

How is the money get from gorilla permits utilized –Uganda

The Uganda Wildlife Authority collects gorillas permits moneys on behalf of the Uganda government and later can be transferred to the coffers of the government. This money is used to pay the Uganda wildlife Authority staff who manages to run the affairs of the organization, it supports conservation and care of mountain gorillas and communities through building schools, hospital, roads around Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It is possible to cancel a permits

If only you have paid a deposit, you will not receive any refund on cancellation

But if you have paid your Gorilla permits in full, the following cancellation rules is listed below;

75% refund, if you only cancel your permits 91 days or extra days before your trek

50% refund, if you decide to cancel between 46 to 90 days before

25% refund, if you cancel 9 to 45 days before the day of cancellation

No refund, if you cancel zero to 8 days before

In case, you cannot trek due to illness 50% of the permit fee may be refunded back you. This is done to encourage people to be more honest about feeling unhealthy, in so doing that to prevent the gorillas becoming sick or causing fatal for them.
