How to get to Mgahinga National Park; Mgahinga National Park can be reached through different routes by road and you can as well fly in to the park by a domestic flight.

By road; The park can be reached from Kigali Rwanda by tourists who fly to Kigali International Airport and then connect to the park headquarters via Cyanika border which takes about 3 to 4 hours’ drive.
Tourists driving from Kampala or Entebbe via Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale, Kisoro and connect to Ntebeko park headquarters which takes about 9 to 10hour drive.
Mgahinga National Park can also be accessed from Kibale Forest National Park through Kabale which takes around 5 to 6 hours’ drive and Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale which takes about 2 to 3hours drives.
You can as well connect the park by public means though we do not recommend our visitors to use public means of transport. Want we can recommend you is use of a tour company like we Achieve Global Safaris.
More so, use of road transport might be tiresome due to the long distance but rewarding as you can enjoy spectacular views of the countryside, Kigezi hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantations and banana plantation. Take note, we advise you to use 4x4wheeldrive vehicles.
Mgahinga National Park has got several activities tourists can engage in during their safari in Uganda including; Gorilla Trekking Tour, Golden monkey, Visit Batwa People, Birding and Guided natural walk among others.
Gorilla trekking; This is an incredible activity which starts early in the morning after briefing at the park visiting center. You will be grouped in a group of eight people. The trek can take about 5 to 7 hours depending the movement of gorilla family. Once gorilla family is found, an hour is given to the tourists to spend with gorillas as you learn how they play, behave, feed, grooming their younger ones as well as taking photography and capturing video of these unique creatures.
Golden monkey; It is a thrilling experience which is done following interesting trails and once you allocate them. You will enjoy the experience of these active primates in their natural inhabitant. The experience can take 30 to 4 hours in search of them and once are found you will be permitted an hour to spend with them.

Visit the Batwa trails; You visiting the bata trails expert to learn how the Batwa used to survive in the forest and enjoying their traditional dance and songs.
Volcano climbing; This is a truly experiential activity where you will be able to view various bird species, small primates like colobus monkeys, golden monkeys and birds to see includes; African paradise flycatcher, Black kite, Cape robin-chat, Pin-tailed whydah, Speckled mousebird, Scarlet-tufted malachite sunbird, Ruwenzori nightjar, Olive woodpecker, Moorland chat, Kivu ground thrush, Dusky crimson wing, Blue-headed coucal among others. The hike takes along three Virunga Volcanic Mountain which are Mount Gahinga measures 3,474 meter above the sea level, Mount Muhavura which is 4,127 meters above the sea level and Mount Sabinyo raises 3,645 meters above the sea level.

Best time to visit Mgahinga National Park; Mgahinga National Park can be visited throughout the year but the best time to visit the park without interruption of heavy rain happened in dry months which starts from June, July, August, September and December, January, February.
