Ichumbi Safari Lodge is an excellent midrange safari lodge in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park that provides luxury cottages with en-suite facilities and a private balcony overlooking Bwindi Forest and beautiful surrounding landscapes. More so, the lodge is located just 10 minute’s walk to Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable National park home to a lifetime gorilla trekking experience and the Ichumbi offers a spectacular view of the park right from your room.

The lodge comprises different rooms such as Canary, Cisticola, Hamerkop, Ibis, Robin-Chat, Sunbird, Turaco, Warbler, and Whydah. They offer a spectacular view of Bwindi Forest and farm hills, flower garden, and forest and they are comfortable for families; The double accommodates 2 people, and the family room accommodates four people.
In general, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in the southwestern region of Uganda a UNESCO world heritage site and home to unique mountain gorillas among other species. More so, it is home to the highest population of the total remaining endangered mountain gorillas and a great location for birders. Bwindi is approximately an 8 to 9 hours drive from Kampala to the main destination. Alternatively, you can use a domestic flight from Entebbe Airport to Kisoro or Kihihi Airport lands within 1:30 hours.

Activities to do at Ichumbi Safaris Lode
The lodge is located in the Rushaga sector one of the four gorilla sectors in Bwindi; Rushaga has got 7 gorilla families such as; Nshongi, Bweza, jBusingye, Mishaya, Kahungye, and the newly habituated Bikingi and Bushaho families among others.
Rushaga forest walks; You can have a walk to the waterfalls in Bwindi forest which offers a chance to encounter real forest life and birds as well as leading you to the Batwa pygmy, cultural trail, and Golden monkey walk experience among many others.
Community walk; You can engage in a community walk and participate in agro-tourism, visit the Batwa community as well as prepare local foods with the community and Bat tracking.
Nature walk /Birding; This activity allows you to watch various beautiful bird species through interesting trails Albertine bird species to see include; Black bee-eater, Regal sunbird, African green pigeon, Shelley’s crimson wing, Black-billed turaco, Giant kingfisher, Blackbee–eater, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Mountain masked apalis, Neumann’s warbler, Handsome francolin, Black-billed turaco, Yellow-streaked greenbul, Western green tickers bird among others.
Gorilla trekking /Gorilla habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Gorilla trekking is a highlight activity to do in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which has attracted thousands of tourists from all over the world. This is a half-done activity and one given to trackers to spend with gorillas as you learn about their behaviors and memorable picture-taking. Gorilla trekking can be done in a group of eight people.
Gorilla habituation is a full-day life experience with fours allowed to track to stay with gorillas as you learn how they behave, feed, play, and survive in their natural environment. This activity is done by researchers, park ranger guides, and doctors who guide you throughout the experience. It starts with a briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorillas and then be grouped into a group of four people. After the park ranger allocates you to a gorilla family you’re assigned to.
