Kisoro Airstrip is an outstanding landing site for passengers who prefer travelling short distance when they are not contented with long traveling journey like traveling a safari to south western Uganda mostly to Gorilla trekking destinations that is Mgahinga Gorilla National Park or even Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a home to unique mountain gorillas and reaching there by car takes 8 to 9 hours’ drive to access the main destination. However, this Kisoro Airstrip mainly serves the nearby Mgahinga Gorilla National Park a home to great mountain gorillas and active golden monkeys, bird species and other amazing small primates among others. The park sits southwestern Uganda region, estimating about 343 kilometers by air in southwest of Entebbe International Airport –the county’s main arrival and departure for in and out both foreigners and locals, which is managed by Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda.

More so, Kisoro Airstrip is a small Airstrip which is mainly used by domestic small planes that fly tourists on a daily basis to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and to southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park at the same time you can connect onto Queen Elizabeth national park entering it through Ishasha sector. Through being a useful airstrip the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has hinted on plans of upgrading the Kisoro Airport.

How to get to Kisoro Airstrip –By a domestic flight
You book Aerolink Uganda from its residing offices at Entebbe International Airport, Aerolink Uganda is such a useful domestic airline which has impacted a lot in transporting passengers who wish to travel small distance and are not comfortable with long travelling journey to all Uganda National Parks. Fact ,Kisoro airstrip lies in Kisoro district in southwestern Uganda region bordering Kanungu ,Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The airstrip offers the easiest way to passengers traveling to Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Tours or Bwindi for Gorilla Trekking Tours mainly traveling by air transport. If you do not want to travel for long distance on your Uganda Safaris the better way is to opt for domestic flights.

From Entebbe early morning and Mid-morning can take 1 to 2 hours to reach to the Kisoro Airstrip, after landing, you will need to drive in about an hour to access the main Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and then about 2 hours to the southern sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable Park
Facts About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renown as a home to half world’s remaining mountain gorillas, which are splintered in 22 habituated gorilla group which can be trekked in four ‘’4’’ different sectors which are Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija and Rushaga.

The park offers a great experience of gorilla trekking and habituation where in gorilla trekking experience you’re provided with one hours to spend with gorillas while Gorilla Habituation Experience a full day activity and once you locate them you will spend more time with gorillas than Gorilla Trekking as you watch them playing ,feed ,lay their nest high on the tree branches among others .Still Bwindi is a home to over 350 bird species ,23 endemic to this area ,324 tree species ,200 beautiful butterflies and around 400 various plant species.
Facts About Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of the smallest Uganda National park, covering an area of about 33 kilometers squared. Despite its size is a home endangered mountain gorillas and home to remarkable Virunga Volcanoes and these include Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhabura among others. The park hosts two habituation gorilla families where Gorilla trekking is conducted. Golden monkey tracking is another interesting activity in Mgahinga.
Tourists choose to climb one of the three volcanoes and the most exciting one to adventure a hike is Mount Sabyinyo that enables you to stand in three countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo once when you access the peak of Mount Sabyinyo.
