Mount Nyiragongo eruption 2021 : It was on May 22nd 2021 when the world’s most active volcano Mount Nyiragongo was seen erupting. Mount Nyiragongo is not only an active Volcano in Democratic Republic of Congo but as well in the African Continent and probably world at large thus its eruption in 2021 has made news throughout the globe. The eruption of mount Nyiragongo was reported to have happened at around 5:00pm Central African Time as confirmed by the Military governor of North Kivu Province and this led to the flowing of Lava that moved as far as Goma International Airport and also cut off the Beni Highway.

Mount Nyiragongo last erupted in 2002 on 17th January and now after just 9 years on 22nd May 2021, it has again erupted though it was estimated to erupt in 2024 but it managed to erupt 3 years before the estimated year making it the 35th time ever since the year 1882 though no one is sure of how many times it erupted since no records until 1882.

Signs of this 2021 Mount Nyiragongo Eruption were spotted in the early morning hours on Saturday the 22nd May 2021 as the areas surrounding the volcano were smelling Sulphur gas and the skies above were turning red which were serious warnings and a signal to the people in the areas of North Kivu, Goma, and Gisenyi that something strange was yet to befall them. Later in the evening hours, an eruption occurred and the Lava flows were being observed as people started evacuating their homesteads and streets for safety purposes since no one is sure of when the lava flow is going to stop.
