Mountain Elgon National Park is an extinct Volcano located along Uganda-Kenya border one of East Africa’s oldest features which once stood higher than Kilimanjaro. All this came to pass as it first erupted 20 million years ago but still rises 3000m compared to that of 5900m for Kilimanjaro. Mountain Elgon is a home of two tribes that is the Bagisu also known as the Bamasaba popularly known for their cultural ceremony called Imbalu used to introduce boys into manhood live in the southern and western skipes of the mountain and the other tribe is the Sabiny. Mountain Elgon harbors large mammal species that live in the forests of the mountain which are hard to see. However, it harbors over 300 bird species namely African goshawk, African blue fly catcher, and endangered lammergeyer among others. Mountain Elgon National Park is good for Mountain Biking, Rock climbing, and fly fishing on the Sipi River
