Nature walks in Bigodi wetland sanctuary; First of all, Bigodi wetland is a bird watcher’s haven and a great location for watching primates which can be spotted while on guided nature walks. More so, Bigodi is a wonderful place that shelters more than 200 species of birds including Kingfisher, Hornbills, Turaco, Parrots, cranes, little greenbul. African shrike-flycatcher, Black-Throated Apalis, Masked Apalis, Malachite kingfisher, Green Breasted Pitta, Abyssinian Ground, Black-Throated Apalis among other endemic species. More so, the sanctuary is home to over 8 primate species including Grey cheeked Mangabeys, White-tailed Blue Flycatcher, Zebra Waxbill, Slender-Billed Weaver, Blue- Throated Roller, Africa Emerald Cuckoo, olive baboon, L’ hoest monkey, Vervet monkey, Anubis baboon blue monkey, Red tailed monkey, red colobus, Black and white colobus among others.

There is a 4.5kilometer long walk that takes you through this important wildlife corridor of Kibale forest and covers about 3 hours might see some notable birds such as Papyrus Gonolek, shining blue kingfisher, white spotted flufftail, Great blue Turaco, White tailed ant -thrush, Yellow billed barbet, white winged warblers, Uganda spotted wood-pecker, joyful green bull among others.
What to pack for the safari.
Rain jackets
Kibale forest sometime can be cold, so we recommend you to carry a rain jacket for your comfortable stay in the wilderness.
A pair of binoculars; While planning to have a nature walk in Uganda Kibale, your requited to carry a pair of binoculars since the forest has tall tree species thus making observation of bird watching a challenge without binocular.
Camera; This item helps to take as many memorable photography for your future remember.
Drinking water; Remember walking experience involves in hiking which may cause dehydrated. So, you need to carry enough mineral drinking water.
Long pants; It is advisable to wear long pants while move off the walking trails for bird.

Best time to visit Bigodi wetland sanctuary
Bigodi wet land can be visited all year around though the best time of the year to visit the activities it’s in dry season which starts from June to August and December to February. During these months of the year, walking trails are easier to hike and experience is quite amazing.

There are several options of lodges in the park ranging between Luxury, Mid-range and Budget, some of lodges includes; Forest guest house, Turaco tree tops, Chimpundu Safari Lodge, Primate lodge, Kibale Forest Camp, Kibale Home Stay among others.
Generally, Kibale National Park known as the kingdom of primates over 13 species of primates and most spotted one are the chimpanzees and other are Uganda red colobus, Grey-cheeked mangabey, Olive baboon, Galago, Mantled guereza, black and white colobus, blue monkey Red-tailed monkey among others. Other mammal species to see in the park include blue duikers, bushbucks, giant forest hogs, common warthogs, African buffalo, African golden cats, leopards, common warthogs and African buffalo among other and over 325 species of birds for Uganda Bird watching including olive long-tailed cuckoo, western tinkerbird, grey parrot and ground thrush many more. More so, the park is located in the western region of Uganda, covering an area of about 766 square kilometers and was established in 1993 as a national park. Kibale National Park is governed by Uganda Wildlife Authority. The park can be accessed within 5 hours drive from Kampala or Entebbe or use domestic flight from Entebbe Airport to Kasese airstrip or Mweya airstrip and then a drive guide will pick you and drop you to the lodge.
