Generally, Kibale National Park a home renowned as primates kingdom to over 13 species and the main sought primates here are chimpanzees. The park has a total of around 1500 individuals of chimpanzees and it is a located in western region, approximately 5 to 6hours drive from Kampala to the park. It covers an area of about 766square kilometers and was gazette in 1932 and formally established in 1993 to protect a logged forest reserve. More so, it is well known for its population of habituated chimpanzee and twelve other species, including the Uganda mangabey, Uganda red colobus, L’Hoest monkey, black and white colobus among others. Other mammals to see in the park include red and blue duikers’ bushbucks, bushpigs, giant forest hogs, common warthogs, Africa buffalo and carnivore’s species like leopards, African golden cats, servals and different mongooses and two species of otters. Kibale Forest National Park is also home to over 325 species of birds including the olive long-tailed cuckoo, western tinkerbird, grey parrot, ground thrush among others.
